MICAH 2

Read all of Micah 2 for yourself and in your favorite version/translation of the Bible.

Journaling Prompts or Questions: What are your thoughts of Micah 2? Explain. Be thorough.

I read Micah 2 on December 15, 2022, Thurs. The verses that stood out to me were: Micah 2:1-2; Micah 2:3-5;

MICAH 2:1-2
(December 15, 2022)

Micah 2:1-2 is… goodness. What words can be used to describe these verses? These verses are quite staggering.

This makes me think of the leaders/rulers/individuals of: nations, social media, news, several organizations, and even the Church… and their agendas today in our world. This makes me think of the US, and many other nations. Hence, I will keep it open and say, of the world. This is a testament and indictment of how people think.

How many times have we heard that "it’s good for people"?

Let me give a proper and correct interpretation of what people mean when they say that “it’s good for you.” They mean: “It’s good for me (the individual or group coming up with the idea) and it will likely hurt many others, but that’s okay because I/we say it’s good for people.”

I think whenever we hear that, "it's good for people," these are actually quite evil ideas that hurt a lot of people.

Micah 2:1-2 is a good definition of evil.

MICAH 2:3-5
(December 15, 2022)
Micah 2:3-5 is God talking about how he will take care of the evil of Micah 2:1-2.

Do not overlook the warning in Micah 2:5.

Micah 2:6-11 explains Micah 2:5.

MICAH 2:8
(December 15, 2022)
Micah 2:8 We rise against those who speak the Word of God, of the Bible as it was written (not as we want it to say).

MICAH 2:9-10
(December 15, 2022)

Micah 2:9-10 is what happens when Christians are not living as God and the Bible say.

MICAH 2:11
(December 15, 2022)

Micah 2:11 tells how lowly believers (Jews/Hebrews) at the time became. I see that this is also quite true today. We would rather believe lies that people say about the Bible, rather than read the Bible says ourselves. We are too busy, you see. We will try to make time to read the Bible later we think and/or say.

Moreover, we want the Bible to say certain things, so we will pick parts of a verse, not the whole verse. Nor do we read the entire verse in context. We want the Bible to say what we want it to say. And we will believe what anyone says about the Bible, provided it tickles our fancy and makes us feel good. In other words, we would rather believe lies about the Bible rather than the truth. After all, if we read the truth of the Bible, we would be held accountable and we do not want to answer anyone.

Nor do we want to make changes. Plus, we are lazy. We would rather others do our homework for us and will trust what anyone says about the Bible rather than take the time out of our busy lives to do so for ourselves.

But this verse specifically talks about the lies we want to believe about the God and the Bible. Believers did then and we still do this.

MICAH 2:12
(December 15, 2022)

Micah 2:12 is talking about the future then and today.
Here’s a few serious questions: Answer each in your journal.

Have we been living Micah 2:1-11? As a Church? As an individual? As a family? Are you making God your priority? Does your schedule each day reflect this? Does your journal? Are your thoughts focused on God and the Bible as you go about your everyday life, moment by moment? Or do you think of God and the Bible time to time? Are you making thinking about God and the Bible your priority as you are doing your life each day? Each moment? How can you make God and the Bible your priority? Each moment?  How can you make thinking about God and the Bible your priority in each moment as you do life? (In other words, how are you practicing the presence of God in every moment, as Brother Lawrence taught? See this link if you have not heard of this: https://www.christianitytoday.com/history/people/innertravelers/brother-lawrence.html.)

The reason why I have asked all these questions is because living in this manner would increase the chances we are part of the remnant if we are living in the last days.
